Lock ease ?

Is anyone still using Lock ease for the 1st shot after cleaning ? I know when I was still shooting short range BR more than most were using it. I was just curious if anyone still does.
Thanx again,
Rmist

Yes some guys still use it. Some guys dry the gun and chamber and put a dime size spot (about 3 drops) of Marvel Mystery oil on a patch, insert bore guide and push through the barrel. Helps clean and makes first shot closer than dry bore. Matt

Never heard of using either product to 'prep' a freshly cleaned bore but I did try using regular ATF fluid in a similar manner to break in a new Palma barrel a few years back, at the suggestion of someone whose opinions I trust.

That barrel shoots awesome now, doesn't foul a bit during a day's 51 rounds & cleans up in no time. I've taken to running an ATF-soaked patch thru bores now at the end of a match when I know there'll be a few hours - even a day or two - before I'll be cleaning 'em.

I have used it, and would not think of not using it. I also pre-treat me barrels with pure colloidal graphite available from Gretan rifles. If you look at Tony Boyer's book he mentions that he uses it, and Speedy Gonzales also mentions use of it, with his time to time articles.

HAVE U GUYS EVERY USED STP OIL TREATMENT THATS ALL I'VE USED FOR ABOUT 20YRS WORK GREAT FOR ME,WORK A SMALL AMOUNT ON A PATCH PUSH IT THOURGH THE BORE 2 SLOW PASSES AND YOUR GOOD TO GO MAKE CLEANING A BREEZE I'VE NEVER USED LOCK EASE

I use Marvel Mystery Oil as a follow-up after cleaning with SC or whatever supplemental solvent I wind up using to get carbon and/or copper out after letting the bore soak overnight in SC. Also like to use it after using IOSSO bore paste - seems to get stuff out much more completely than dry patches.

Don't really know how effective it is as a preservative/rust preventer, but it's all I use anymore after cleaning, and haven't had any issues with it.

After every cleaning, I run a patch of Lock EEz through the bore and allow to dry muzzle down. The first shot from a cold clean bore is right where it should be. I've been doing this for years.

I lightly coat the bore with Butches Oil at the end of every match and get the same benefits the previous posters are reporting. The one thing we all have in common is we do not shoot with a dry bore. I would steer clear of any lube with Teflon.

Been using Kroil and recently using penetrating oil, never heard or thought of lock ease until now. Results seem to be very similar.

Thanx again for the replies. There are other methods being used from reading this thread. Glad there are others using something with good results. I have also used something different in the past..50/50 mix of Kroil and Hoppes. Another BR shooter showed me that method and works well too.
Thanx again
