Loads for a 22 PPC with 1:12 twist

Looking at a 22 PPC 1:12 twist barrel and was wondering what some of your pet loads and bullets might be. This rifle will be used for paper and coyotes mostly.

I would appreciate hearing from any of you that have one of these and perhaps have used it to shoot on coyotes.

Thanks in advance......

Bruce;
I have a 22PPC that I assembled with a Stiller single shot Predator action and a 24" Pac-Nor 1:12 twist Barrel.
Here is my load info: Avg 3394fps With SD=8fps
Hornady 53 Grain V-Max Bullet # 22265 BC = 0.290
LOAD DATA
CASE:
Norma 22PPC USA
PRIMER: Fed GM205M
POWDER: IMR 2808XBR 28.8grn

Russell:

Thanks so much for your data. This rifle is going to be a Christmas present for my wife. It should be on its way by the end of the week. I am going to have to do some sneaking around to keep it hidden from her.......

Again, Thanks.....

I’ve never hunted with mine, but lots of paper has “died” with 27 grains of Vihtavuori N-133 w/Sierra’s Match 53 grain bullet. A close 2nd is the same bullet and 26.5-26.7 of H-335.

27 grains Benchmark and 40 grain Nosler Varmageddons, Rem 7.5. I dont know the velocities, but it shoots great and have killed a couple of coyotes with that load. My best group is 5/16", built on a Mark X mini Mauser action, 22" sporter barrel.

Checked my load data; 28.0 2230 Barnes 40 VLC HP, Rem 7.5 shot pretty good too.

Thanks.

I guess I should have said this is for an un touched, except for the trigger, Ruger #1V. It will eventually make its way to a really good #1 smith and get the full accurizing (squared up) treatment.

I too have had great luck with a very similar load to RussellJ. The 53gr V-Max has been a solid performer in several .22 cartridges I have loaded for, not only that but the higest in class BC is an added bonus. I did have one issue however in terms of seating. The seating stem in my Redding 223 standard seating die would not touch the bullet ogive and resulted in huge amounts of runout along with awful groups. A simple swap to a VLD micrometer stem and groups went from around 1.5 MOA down to 0.2 and 0.125 MOA at 100 yards. I'm not sure if this will apply to your 22PPC seater, just be aware!

Thanks,
Josh

Nobody has mentioned H-322 for the 22 PPC so I'll put my current load out there. It's 26.4 gr. H-322 (this is .4 gr over book max so start low and work up) under a Nosler CC 52gr HPBT at ~ .030 into the lands. I'm using Norma 6 PPC cases necked down and Fed 205M primers. This load is consistently under .25 for me at 100 out of a 22" heavy varmint barrel.
