Loads for 60 gr. Nosler Partitions in 22-250

Wonder if anyone loads 22 cal 60 gr Nosler Partitions with slow powders. Compressed loads of RL 22 and IMR 4831 with 75 gr. Hornady Amax work very well in my 22-250 Savage BVSS with 1 in 9' twist. But I want to develop open country hunting load for small deer. My former colleague harvested many deer in TX with this bullet. He keeps telling me this bullet gives excellent penetration and weigh retention. So I wanted to try in my Savage. From the faster powders I have IMR 4064, but Hodgdon does not list loads with this powder either. Thank you for inputs.

I shot a very accurate load of 39.g of IMR 4350 with a 60g Sierra which knawed a ragged hole with the 60g Sierra, which would also make a great deer bullet.

Good luck

Sometime back I used 38.gr/H380 to push Nosler Partitions at over 3600fps out of a 14tw 26' barrel with great accuracy. I have killed several large feral hogs with this load and I've used it with success to harvest several does. This a mild low pressure load and not a barrel burner as Quick Load shows it to be 56,301 PSI = 3623 FPS with a 2.350 OAL. According to Q.L. max load at this same OAL is 39.4gr/H380 for 64,195 PSI = 3761 FPS. The 22-250 Rem,SAAMI) has a P-max of 65,000.

35 gr imr 4064, 60 gr partition, cci 200 primers.
2.410 OAL in my 9 twist will shoot 1/2"
don't know how fast, but its very flat

Todate, I never got this bullet to shoot better than 2 MOA using 4 different barrels and two calibers. Tried several different powders and primer combinations. Finally gave up.

I have used the 60 gr patition & your friend is correct. Very nice bullet & does the job. We cull quite a few deer with 22 centerfires so I've really seen the performance of a lot of different bullets. HANDS DOWN, the Barnes TSX is the deer bullet. Load it up with H380 & you're good to go. Your 9 twist will work fine & it is an accurate bullet. We shoot them completely thru deer up to 200# with devastating effect.

Run the 62 gr. TSX and 60 grain Partition in my 1 in 9" .223's. Barnes do well Nosler not so much. My best is the 65 gr. Sierra and the one I shoot at medium game. It has a great reputation also. I don't shoot a .22-250 anymore but that bullet weight and case capacity should be crying for Varget! No explanation needed for its record!

I use the Barnes 62 gr TSX. You need a 1-9 or faster for this bullet,& yes Varget will work great as well but I get great results from the H380. It's a little dirtier But accuracy in MY rifle is superb. I do use a mag primer with H380 though.

60g partition does a lot more damage to deer than the tripple shock, looks like they have been shot with a 30/06.

just shot my first deer with a 60 gr partition out of my 22-250 ,at about 100 yards. centered both shoulders on a mature Florida doe. complete pass through with massive damage. bloodshot from her elbow to the top of her back. learned what i needed. awesome little bullet
