loads for 140grn .270

Looking to load up some 140 grn Nosler BTs for the .270.

22" barrel 1-9 twist

Have H4831, IMR 4064. IMR 4350 and Varget. Obviously every gun is different, just loking to get an idea of what is workng in simmilar combos. Looking for accuracy out to 500.

Hodgden and other give a 54-58 spread so I am starting with loads of 55, 56 and 57 of H4831. I know this is a pretty coarse load work up but I will take what works best and fine tune from there.

3 shots at 100 yards. 55 grns of H831 CCI 200s in formed brass

That's some fine shooting you did. What are the specs on your rifle and the load?

On a side note, have you looked at the 140gr Accubond? According to nosler it has a BC equal to the 150gr ballistic tips. It's actually pretty close to that of the Berger vld 140s if I remember correctly.

I just joined today, but I think I remember your sig from reading a while back about some amazing 243win groups. Am I crazy or was that you?

Thks for the reply cstilt.

Dunno about the .243 groups you mentiones, I'm shooting a Stevens 200 that has shot in the .3s. I post a lot here and on a cple of other forums because I'm pretty new to this and have a lot of questions. My username is always the same so it may/may not have been me.

The .270 is a Mossberg ATR that I bought at tthe local Walmart. It is completely stock with a Nikon 4.5-14 BDC scope.

It has a long throat so the COL is 3.374, 55grns of H4831 in pre-fired Win brass with CCI 200s. Couldn't be happier with a $227.00 gun.
