Loaded 6.5 grendel neck diameter ?

While I wait on my brass to arrive can anyone tell me the loaded neck diameter of a 6.5 Grendel using a lapua 123 scenar and lapua brass? I want to get a jump on ordering the correct bushing(s) if possible.

Thanks in advance.

I dont load for Grandal, but I do load 260 and 6five creed.
I have .286 .287 .288 bushings using hornady's match grade dies in both calibers, and a Redding type s in 6five.
My brother also uses .290 with his alpha brass.
My loaded ammo measures .291

I have Hornady 123 ELD M loaded in Lapua brass if that will help. I have some scenar's but not loaded. I can measure them when I get home later tonight if you need me to. Like the Grendel round.

Sure thing let me know. I plan to shoot it for the first time this weekend with some cheap wolf steel case to foul and rough sight in.

Will do. I load the Lapua Brass for the Bolt gun and Hornady Brass for the AR. Will pm them later tonight..

Don't even expect to get what you would call a group out of Wolf ammo because the bullets are under size and they really don't do well if you have 5R rifling. Most say with the 6.5 Grendel that 3 thousands neck tension is what you want. I load Hornady brass with different bullets and so far I have just used Lee FL sizing dies and also use what I call a medium Lee Factory Crimp on all my loads and have gotten good results. I did pick up a set of Hornady loading dies that I will use to see if it makes a difference sometime next spring. The compound throat in the 6.5 Grendel was a new experience for me in loading for it and I have been handloading 40 years. I mainly have only worked with hunting bullets to use for deer. I just built two ARs in the 6.5 Grendel one with 20" the other with 18" barrels. Only killed one deer this year with the Grendel using the 120 Speer Gold Dot bullet pushed 2550 fps out of the 20" with 28.0 grs IMR 8208, Hornady case, CCI 450. It did a AWESOME job. BANG FLOP to the center of the chest as the deer faced me at 111 yards. The hydrostatic effect to the chest was something to behold, pulped everything but bullet held together and exited the belly with a thumb size hole about 6 inches before the crotch.

Fyi .. I'm loading for a bolt gun, howa mini action in fact that I bedded last night. Should have clarified as I realize most shoot the Grendel in an ar platform

Measured the Lapua with Hornady 123 ELD M. .290. The loaded Hornady brass is in the safe and I will get a measure on it later. I shoot the Lapua brass in a Howa Mini Action also. I use the Hornady in the AR because I've not found any of my brass fired in the woods with the AR. At least with the bolt I have found my brass. I use Forester Bench Rest dies and like them. I measured my Hornady brass and it was .014 thick. So that would be.292 and .290 with.002 neck tension. Will have to dig them out of the safe to measure for sure on the loaded rounds. Measured the Lapua and it was .014 thick also.

Best I can give you is .288” with both 108 Scenar and 100 Ballistic Tip and Alexander brass.

I agree with 2506 about the Wolf loaded rounds. Unless it was a junk barrel I wouldn't shoot it. I would buy some Hornady Black. It shoots great plus you get some decent brass to play with after you are done. So far I've really liked the Hornady Brass. The Lapua is more uniform. I would hold the Wolf back for SHTF. JMO

Just need the wolf for high volume informal steel shooting..not group size. Its served me well in my other platforms over the past few years and has freed up significant amounts of time that would otherwise have required me to spend in the basement. Thats hard to do when you have a 3.5 and a 1.5 year old. I also have copious amounts of boretech on hand to quickly handle the remnants of cheap ammo.:)

The Velcro strap on brass catcher works really well for me on my ARs and I have seen them for under $20 lately on a few sites. They will pay for themselves in a short time compared to loosing cases.
