Load for 6BR 28' Krager 13.5 twist

What Bullet and load for up to 500yd. in a 13.5 twist 28" Krager. Used mostly for varmints but accuracy is my main concern.Thanks for any recommendations regarding bullet wt. and load.Will be using Lapua brass.

With a 13.5 twist, you are limited to light bullets,75grs and less) anyway. Match bullets made by many custom bullet makers in the 68gr range should do very well at the shorter distances,up to 300 yds or so). You can use these bullets at the longer ranges but the wind becomes a big factor on these low BC bullets. For reaching out to 500, I would rather have a 10 twist barrel and shoot the 90 gr low drag type bullets. I have had good luck with VV N135 powder but there is a wealth of load data and info in the blogs of this site.

I have a setup similar with yours. I am uasing Sierra 70 gr. MK and Berger 68 gr. Match. For powder I am useing N135 and H-4895. N135 performed best at top velocity and H-4895 at lower. I havent tried a lot of different powders because I didnt have to. The Sierra did real well on grondhogs this summer.

For short range 300 and less...use any good 65-70 gr benchrest bullet and max loads of 133 ....for out around 600 etc....try the Berger or Fowler 80 gr,,stay away from 80gr boat tail bullets...they wont stablize--I found this to be beyond the limit of the 14 twist..)))....with 59 cliks..,aprox 33gr) of Rx-15....it works good for me in my 14 twist bbls ...so a 13 and a half twist should do even better....Roger
