Load Development

With so many bullet and powder choices available for most calibers today, what’s the best way to narrow down what may be the most accurate combination for your rifle?
An easy example is a 223 with a 9 twist.
There are probably hundreds of different combinations of bullets and powder that one could test, and most likely wear out the barrel before you came up with the best load.
I’ve always wondered how you decide on which one or 2 powders and bullets to use before you start to load a cartridge for that rifle.

I started out with the cartridge guides on this website. If your cartridge isn't listed there, ask for loads on this forum. It helps if you explain how you plan to use your rifle and any ideas your might have about bullet weights etc. People here have had plenty of experience and are happy to help.

here is the link to the 223 rem cartridge guide. Seems very comprehensive.
