Load data needed - 243 winny w/ 87g V-max

I got a new toy I'm about to begin load development with. I would like some load data with either Hodgden or VV powders. Cases are Lapua, fully prepped. Also list primer used with the data you post. Barrel is a 24" 1:10 twist. Thanks.

Bump

I was hoping this guy would get a few responses. I am interested in some starting points with this combo also.

95 gr Berger with a starting load of 39.0 of Varget gives 2922 FPS from a factory Remington. I did not put it on paper. The load was used as a guideline as to how much more powder was needed to obtain the same speed as a 6BR with the same powder and bullet.Ans. About 7 more grains.

Magic Merlin--I have an old M77 Ruger in .243 caliber with the tang safety, probably bought it 1981. I don't know what the twist rate is--sorry, but I have a load I used with the 87 gr. Hornady BT HP. I know it isn't an 87 gr. V-Max, but it is the best I can do. I used 42.3 gr. of WW-760, CCI200 primers and was using Federal casings at the time. My velocity at about 10 feet from the muzzle averaged 3,060 fps with an ES of 47 fps. My OCL was 2.767". Those are my notes from February 19, 1983. The temperature was 20º on that day at the range. The groups weren't fantastic, with 5-shot groups measuring between .651 and .737". If I remember right, I was shooting from a bench but with a Harris bipod for the front rest and a rolled up jacket on the butt of the rifle.

I shoot a .243 A.I. with a 1:10 Douglas barrel using an 87 grn. Hornady V-Max with H4831 with excellent results. Bear in mind that I'm shooting an Ackley which is above max. charge for a .243 but I would recommend this powder with this bullet, Lapua brass and Federal match primers. Good luck!
