Little Help ..223AI and 90 VLD's

I think Stacy is traveling down this road, you might want to drop a PM and see......

Phil.

I recently switched from 308 to 223(7 twist) in the Tac division PRS. I have shot my last 3 matches with this load. I am shooting 90smk's at 2840 with 24.5 8208 and it shoots unbelievably. It literally shoots as good as a 6br. The BC I came up with for the 90smk,since they are now pointed from the factory, is a G7 .270. I've shot out to 1050 and that BC has worked flawlessly so far.

If I can get 2950 or so out of my Ackley 7twist I may very well shoot that barrel in open next year. The lack of recoil is a huge benefit for PRS shooting.

Best Regards

I may be dreaming, who knows?lol . I do know I was able to push 80amax to 3180(22" barrel) with 8208 without blowing primers in an old 223AI I used to run.. It didnt shoot worth a darn at those velocities. It hammered at 3050fps. So I think 2900+ is attainable, but who knows if it will shoot any good up there.

YOU GOT IT MINE IS 2800 FPS AND I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!
Stacy,
How is your brass life? I like shooting 90s, don't like how fast the brass dies in standard 223. 2800 in an AI seems like it would last a while.

HAVE SOME LAPUA THATS 0N THE SIXTH FIRING DOING FINE BUT I M ONLY SHOOTING MY ACKLEY AT 2800 BUT SHES SINGING A GOOD NOTE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How often do you anneal? I just bought the AMP annealer so it is easy to anneal every shooting. --Jerry

I got 2940fps with bare S90MKs & N550 out of my 26" 1-7 223AI, but accuracy at 600 wasn't good. Thinking about going for 2800-something with N150 or RL15 with the S90s.

Look at around 24.5 to 25.0 grs of RL15.. but as you well know.. work up to it.. i am not sure if it was a slow bbl, but 25.0 grs of RL15 was producing an avg of 2785 Fps.. bbl length was 29 inches

OOPs.. this is for a regular .223, you all are typing about an AI version.. my bad..
