Light varmint stock

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot so sorry if I'm not. I'm thinking about making a couple of light varmint benchrest stocks for myself and a friend. They are getting pretty hard to find nowadays(well, that i can afford anyway).I have made stocks for myself and they come out pretty nice. My question is what weight should I be shooting for? I've heard mixed answers and I'm just looking for a round about weight. I have a scoville lv that I was thinking of using as something to copy for shape.

With today’s scopes, and with more shooters using tuners, I would agree that 24 ounces is a good number to shoot for.

If you cannot get it light enough, you could look at the new Bat Maverick action which does weigh several ounces under most BR actions.

You’ll need to choose light wood and rely on laminations for stability.

Thank you guys for the responces and advice. I was thinking cedar with carbon fiber runners between lamination. If I get it done I'll post some pics.
