light hunting stocks, which one?

I am having a tough time deciding between the Manners EH4, McMillan edge, and McMillan hunter. My rifle will have a #3 heart 20" barrel and short action. The Manners has a short but fat fore end for Remington varmint contour. I don't want the skinny hot dog in a fat bun look. The McMillan edge is the right for width, but looks like the length might be on the long side. The McMillan hunter is a lot like the edge for width and length, but is heavier. The hunter is also identical to my heavy rifle, I like the feel of that stock and think it would be a good idea to have a light rifle with almost the same feel as my heavy. I don't want a 32 oz. stock, 24-28oz will keep me in my target weight for this rig, under 6.5lb ideally without scope, my heavy rifle is 8.5 and a large caliber. I can also get the hunter in edge technology which come in at 27oz, which is close, but still 3oz heavier than the edge. I know I am splitting hairs, but an ounce here an ounce there adds up pretty quick. I want to do this right, on the first go round. Any photos would help loads.

Boyd, I gave these a bit of thought, but the price for them to bed and finish the stock is a bit spendy for me, though probably worth every penny. The un finished stock is attractive but seems to need a lot of TLC. I can and have installed recoil pads, and painting is pretty simple. I know I am heavy handed with tools, and delicate work should be done by someone else besides me. Glass bedding, though sounds simple, and probably is, scares the hell out of me. The last thing I want to do is glue $1500 to a stick, and the odds are Murphy would raise his ugly head.

I believe that they will install a pad, and that the action area has solid fill, probably eliminating the need for anything but a skim bedding job. Any stock that you pick will need bedding to get the best accuracy. A friend has a light weight magnum (.270 WSM) that has one, and he likes it. I just thought that I would put it out there in case you didn't know about that option. Good luck with your project. Let us know how it turns out.

There was just a Lone Wolf SA stock in the classifieds. They don't get any lighter.
Sorry, it was a lefty...

Glenn...hard to beat Mcmillan...but Boyds suggestion of Bansner might be worth looking into. My smith has been using them for several years.

Boyd, I saw nothing on their website about weight. Can you tell me how to navigate their website to learn this?

The weights are right on the page that the link takes you to, in the fine print near the end of each stock description.

Well,
I guess that I am a dumb aZZ. What is their lightest stock for a LA Remington type receiver in a hunting stock?

23oz for the classic, 21oz for the sheep, they only have pictures of two stocks, one with check rest and one without. The sheep has a narrow fore arm and no cheek rest.

Anyone use a Pendleton stock ? I can't find any weights on them, but they sure look good.

I am waiting to hear back from High-Tech, sent them an Email asking a few questions.

I used on my ultralight 223 ai a Brown Precision kevlar pounder it came in at 16 oz finished. I did all the work bedding, painting etc. Its alot stiffer than the Lonewolf that I looked at.
