What is the life expectancy of a 6 BR barrel?

Moderate to warmish loads of Varget, Kreiger 8 TW, 105gr bullets, straight BR.

Depends on your game. 2000 to 2200 ish rounds for most shooters in the non benchrest world.

At 2000 rounds mine will still shoot about 2 inch groups at 500 yards. That’s not competitive but still fun to shoot.

I'm on my 7th barrel and not one of them went past 1800 rounds but then I like two inch groups at a grand. Could you enjoy one past that? Of course! Keep cleaning well and don't shoot her hot!

You like 2 inch groups at 1000 rounds, at what distance. Or, are you shooting 2 inch groups at 1000, how many shots? I am not sure what your saying.

Love to see that. And repeated on an even semi consistent basis. I’m sure it is a goal, but…… seems lofty. 2” 5 shots, thousand yards, a BR, or anything.

I don’t think the magical 2 inch ten shot group hasn’t happened yet.
The current HG WR records are around 2.8
At Deep Creek I’ve seen a few LG targets in the low 2’s and Alex W. shot a couple in the mid 1’s

If I ever get so good, that I shitcan a barrel if it’s not putting 10 inside 3” @ 1k, I’m gonna look for new challenges.

Exactly! 2.0 is competitive and under that you may win. Seems wind is always my problem but age is not? LOL
And I did try setting a couple back but it's not worth the money to rechamber. I have one in my possession a Krieger 8.35-8.75 ratchet that I reset at 1000 rounds and it's still shooting very well with almost 2000 rounds but I'm not shooting in competition. If you're going to rechamber they need to be shooting well and they shouldn't have any carbon.
Trying to bring one back from carbon build up in my opinion isn't worthwhile. I've tried it. That's why I say keep it clean and cool! Cortina covers that subject well in the Speedy G interview recently!

I believe there was a 10 shot group under 2 inches shot about 3 years ago. I don't know if it was a registered match. It showed up here but I can't find it.

300 & 600 yard Varmint Benchrest

Staying with the tread topic, I probably had 1600 rounds on my light gun that day when three of us shot in the low 2’s.
