Leupold VX3 6.5-20x40mm EFR AO advice or alternatives?

Looking at getting an expensive (for me) piece of glass that could cover all target work from rimfire and airgun at 20 yards out to F-class at 600 to 1000.

Would the Leupold VX3 6.5-20x40mm EFR AO cover it provided I had a target dot/ fine cross hair and 1/4 minute target turrets?

Is there another scope that would cover the range of focus adequately with equal ruggedness, optical quality at a better price, and better suited to target work? I find the adjustment ranges on the Bushnell 4200 6-24 and 8-32 really narrow.

I happen to have a gloss black Leupold 6.5-20 X 40 AO with 1/4 MOA turrets. It is used but in a+ shape. Are you interested? What is it worth? It is on a rifle I am going to list.

I would go with a zeiss conquest 6.5-20x50 over the leupold. If you shop around online you can find pretty good deals on them.
