Leupold Scopes

For the life of me I can't understand why you would care what kind of glass it is! All the scope company's say there glass is the best, so what I would do is go to a match and ask people if you can look though there scopes. I let my buddy Eddie K. shoot one of my rifles that has a Leupold VX-6 7x42x56 and he is still raving about it and believe me he knows his scopes just ask Matt K. Everyone has there likes and dislikes. So go look at different scope and make up your own mind, you are the one that will be shooting it.

I am pretty sure all companies that sell lenses and blanks for them have different grades in their line. So just knowing the vendor a company uses for its optical components does not tell you all that much.

That is certainly a possibility, Eddie ;D I have de-fueled and re-fueled more than one, and moved more fuel assemblies than I care to remember!

How does it compare to Nightforce, Joe?

Eddie, I own three Nightforces, and I like them a lot. But you have to understand my eyes aren't what they used to be. But the Leupold parallax is much better and the eye relief is 3.5"-4". Where the NF is kind of hard to bring the field of view in as quickly. I hate to say it but to me the NF is like looking down a piece of pipe. I know I'm going to get S___ for that! But when my buddy tells me the same thing I think we may be right. This isn't my first time behind a scope, I talked to one of the guys at Leupold years ago and told him he had to get them to go for more power to keep up with everyone else. So yes I wish I had the money right now for another Leupold. But Then again the prices on all the scopes is getting scary.

Joe, why are you addressing this to me? I don't give a flying _____ in a rolling donut what kind of glass they use. I've already been corrected, had my credibility challenged and sternly chastised by the almighty.

Eddie:

Joe posted something pertaining to the Leupold scope, and I asked a question. He inadvertently responded to you. He said nothing whatsoever about the glass in the scope, yet once again, you put words in someones mouth. He did however, answer my question. Why you chose to bring up God ("the almighty") i'll never understand. What exactly are you trying to accomplish with your ranting and raving? Isn't it time to end the lunacy, say enough is enough and move on to a different subject?

Eddie all I want to know from you is? Did I cross the T and dot the i right this time! JRS The glass what ever kind it is. Is very nice.

Ray:

Most scope manufacturers source the glass they use from different makers based on quality, quantity and price. The vendor offering quality in the quantity needed, along with the lowest cost, is usually going to get that contract. S&B is a different story. They produce their own glass.

I know different qualities of glass makes a difference. But I also believe the coatings have as much to do with it. I have a pair of Swarovski SLC binoculars and I can read race car shirts in the dark at a half mile dirt track. They excel in the dark. I showed people and they couldn't believe how good they could see. Only the track is lit up. Matt

Joe, I think you crossed your eyes and put a dot on your forehead. Now you are eligible for a 7-11 franchise. Goldmine!

PS. The only way to find out what kind of glass Leupold uses is to buy 2 VX-7 scopes and register them with Leupold. After that they'll give you their bank account code.
