leupold rx 750 rangefinder

im in need of a new range finder and just want some opinions on them.what do u have not looking 2 break the bank but want a good 1 for the money thanks

twmule,

I bought a Bushnell 1200 Legend w/ARC (angle range compensation).
It does well in both bow and rifle modes and is not too expensive.
I would recommend it. The screen is clutter free and the magnification works well for me.

Cheers,

I've got one for sale in the optics section below. It's a rx750 with all the bells and whistles in black with a case. It works fine for deer around 350yds and trees and barns out to 500-600 in realistic conditions. It's a good practical rangefinder. The bow mode is nice if you bowhunt too. Ive got a ziess on order because my ranges have grown considerably. I used to think 300 was a good groundhog shot but now I'm pushing 750yds.

i shoot small varmints and now have three rangefinders and use a leica. after many misses, i learned that the "aiming" point in the rangefinders screen may NOT be the area on the screen that the user's manual tells you to use. a bushnell would read a target at the very bottom of the screen! a perpendicular target reading was close, but reading over a field at a small ghog was always hitting low. test the reading point location on the screen before buying. i was instructed to point the rangefinder into the sky just over a powerline and slowly lower the unit down to the powerline and it should read as the line reaches center screen. if it reads anywhere else, try another. my leupold and leica read at exact center. like the latters retical over the leupold.

My hunting partner and I both needed new rangefinders, so we went Cabelas. We took a handfull of them outside, and tried em all. Most had trouble at half the advertised distance, and the returns were slow. The only one Cabelas had that worked was the Leica. Dang thing would not only give you the advertised range, but about 100 yards extra, and fast returns. That has been more than a few years now and our leica units are still working great. It's speed and accuracy is well worth the extra money, and the warranty is 3 years rather than 1.

I too have a Leica, the 1200 model. As stated above, compact (fits in shirt pocket) light weight, and always available when you need it. Also very accurate. For me, it is the best way to go for ranging! Be sure to try one out before you buy.

I am on my 4th range finder. It is a Leica 1200 and I`m still not happy. It is the best I have had but as Wapiti said they only work to about 1/2 the yardge stated on small animals, but I think he ment to say on deer size animals. On coyotes they don`t get that far and on smaller animals even less. I usually range some larger, like a tree or a big rock, close to them. Get the best you can afford, and if possible try it before you buy it.

I went to Wyoming with a friend that has the G7. I want one, it is fantastic but expensive. I have a Leupold RX-IV and it works ok to 400 yds on antelope but can be touchie after that. I feel that how solid you can hold on target is very important. I have ranged antelope at 479 yds, elk 603yds.

I use my leica on coyotes all the time and have no problems getting ranges out to the max advertised distance, on coyotes, deer or other game. I have used it almost daily for several years now and it works about as fast as I can press the button. I did see one leica that was temperamental and slow, it went back to the store (cabelas) and was replaced with one that works.
