Leupold Question

I recently bought a Leupold M8, 20x scope from a forum member. The scope works fine ans has good, clear resolution. My only problem is that the front focus ring is difficult to turn needing both hands to rotate. I tried some Kroil near the ring junction but its still pretty tight. I see no evidence of damage. Any thoughts? Thanks, Keith

^^^ this, except I always call them on older ones first, provide the SN and make sure they likely have parts for it. Or more importantly know if they don't and can't repair it as there are a couple models like this. If they say send it in, fill out the online form and send it. They will go through it completely you can indicate if they can't repair it whether you want a replacement or not. I always say NO and ask them to call me if they cannot repair it so we can discuss options before they move forward. You'll get a nice sheet showing what they found, repaired, and what the elev and windage ranges were when received and after repair.

I have had several 6.5x20's that had a hard to turn objective focus. Leupold rarely will indicate what the actual problem is, often they just replace a bunch of parts but don't tell you what they changed.

On an older 24X BR scope, Leupold destroyed the tube trying to take it apart. Unfortunately , there is no new replacement for that scope so had to choose from their current lineup. That was unfortunate, as that scope was ideal for my usage.

Probably galled threads - aluminum. I would not use Kroil as it gums up and hardens with age. A silicon spray might be more effective and not harm the o-ring compound. As said Leupold might be the only permanent recourse.
