Leupold Mark 5 HD 5-25X56

I have wanted a high end scope for shooting off of the bench as well as some hunting. I saw a Leupold MARK 5HD 5-25X56 for sale today with rings and a super nice mount. After awhile the we talked about a partial trade for a Super Red Hawk in .44 Mag and cash. The guy said he has over $3,000 in the scope with out the mount and rings. I have no experience with this optic. Whats the good, bad and ugly?

Their HD glass is great but their reticles leave a lot to be desired for bench-shooting, to me anyway. I would look for something with a fine reticle that can be illuminated for the those few low-light hunting shots you might make.

I would walk away, for 3k your looking in the S&B ultrashort territory. The MK5HD is good scope but $2,500 is optics planet price. That a illuminated Tremor 3.

I respectfully disagree ,don't walk away ,run away ! Trijicon Tenmile 5-50x56mm SFP or 4.5-30x56mm FFP .

I've been researching the $1800-$2500 dollar scopes and seams like Leupold MK5HD is at the top, plus the price on Amazon is spectacular .

I have it mounted and I have been using it. I am satisfied but I have no experience with optics north of $1500

You can get kahles at $3,000. Only way he could have $3,000 in it is if he sent if off to the custom shop for something.

Well I wouldn’t call him a liar about the $3k, but maybe he’s not too good a shopper. I like Night Force ATACRs and also the new NX8 models. I bought several demo NF models in the last 18 months from Eurooptic. I haven’t had a single issue and could not tell the difference between the demos and new ones, everything packed in the original boxes, other than the great low price. Full warranty. They are a good deal.
