Leupold LRT 8.5-25x50 SF questions

Hi All,

I have picked up one of these scopes 2nd hand,it is only 4 months old). It is working fine and I hav not had any problems with it on my 6 Dasher.

I recall reading somewhere that there were a bunch of problems with these scopes that required a trip back to the factory. Can anyone enlighten me on the exact issues? Just so to alay any paranoia

The most reported problem that I'm aware of is that some of these scopes got out of the factory with canted reticles. Very easy for you to check. Leupold will correct that problem if you happen to run into it.

Another problem that some shooters report is that with these side parralax adjusting models they can either sharply focus the target or dial out all of the parralax, but not both at the same time. I'm not so sure that this problem isn't inherent in Leupolds. Most users learn to live with it.

I did not intend to bash Leupold with my answer to this question. Although there are other high-end scopes that I prefer, I've been using MK4 and VXIII LR Leupolds for years.

The REAL "problem" comes in when no matter how hard you try to properly adjust it the scope won't give you a sharply focused target AND eliminate the parralax at the same time. As I said, a problem found in some side focus Leupolds. The problem can be remedied. It's just a matter of getting someone over at Leupold's Service Department to understand what you're describing.
