Leupold Goldring 15-30X50

The Leupold Goldring 15-30x50 should be capable of spotting 22 rimfire bullet holes and even resolving 50% overlapping holes for people with normal vision even with moderate mirage.
The only limitation will be holes in the 'black' under cloudy conditions and/or with shade on the face of the NRA style target. The problem is a lack of contrast between the bullet holes and the surrounding 'black' of the target face. This is a limitation more of poor target design and only slightly of the scope. A larger aperture,>50mm) and more magnification,>30.4x)would help but only up to the limit of the poor target design.
Light blue on white would be far better for a target than the dark charcoal on tan of the NRA style targets.
