Leupold ER/T Scopes. What is your opinion of them......

I have 2 NF scopes and I didn't want to spend $2500 on a new scope and saw that Natchez had them for round $1350. I was looking at the 4.5-14x. Can anyone give me their first hand 2cents? Thank you.

Not sure which exact scope you are referring to but I bought a Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50 ERT

Always wanted a Leuy Black Ring scope. FFP is a little strange for this first timer and seems to reduce the available eye relief for me. Glass is clear and bright. Tracking is good but not great. Clicks are crisp. Would have rather had a different reticle but for what I got this scope for I guess I can't really complain. Looks badass on the Remy PSS 308 I put it on. Black on black. No problems ringing steel with it out to 1000yds. Its not a BR scope but I did not buy to be. Midway had some of the 6 to 20 versions this week for $1200. I dont think these particular MK4's are being made any more. Hard to tell with Leupold.

Basically just a VX3 with black paint. Nothing more. For that kind of money you would be way ahead to pick up a clean used Nightforce NXS. Something like a 5.5 x 22 x 50. They come up quite often on the site. Good luck.:D:D

Mark 4 ER/T scopes are first focal, far from a vx3 with a black ring.

I had a Mark 4 ER/T 8.5-25, it was a decent scope, shot it for 6 yrs. I liked the glass quality, even though some around me did not, we're all different in that aspect. I do recall on 25 power, it seemed to have less magnification than a NF NXS 5-22, again not an issue. It tracked great too.
But, it was a bastard scope, TMR mil reticle with moa dials, in todays climate, I'd never do that again. Mile High Shooting supply has Mark 5's sold with Sphur mounts for 1800, 3-18 power compact, 35mm tube, you can sell the Sphur for 300 so now you're down to 1500 total plus rings.
Technology, even Leupold's has come a long way since the ER/T was made, I'd utilize it if I could.
Edit: And why fight that goofy 15moa turret.

Not really. First focal versus second focal. So what! I questioned the Leupold rep on this and he said, and I quote, " just a VX3 without the gold ring. Just upgraded turrets.

Straight from Leupold technician. Not my personal opinion. Take it for what it is worth.:D:p

My personal opinion is you would still be way ahead with a used NXS.:D

I guess it's apparent you or the rep have never used hold offs or hold overs at varying magnification ranges other than full power or the designated half power settings.
People buy and shoot FFP scopes for a reason, I understand it is not for you. But don't tell someone that wants one to buy an nxs, yeah it's a great scope, have had many, but if the op has an application for FFP, let him buy it.

I could care less about FFP or not. The Leupold tech was referring to the internal components of the scope. The same as a VX3 as far as production goes. Leupold just calls it a Mk4 to run the price up. Clear as mud! This is why all these scopes are being phased out due to poor sales. If you don't believe me call Leupold yourself!

Im no expert but it appears there are FFP and SFP Mark 4 ERT scopes being closed out right now on EuroOptic and Midway. I have a FFP with mil dot reticle and moa turrets. This configuration would not be my first choice but its what they had on sale about 7 mos ago. Midway has TMR reticle , 2nd FP and moa knobs . Better but still not ideal. Sightron and NF have great moa reticles. Leupold, not so much. Just my opinion. Not sure what OP application is but the 6-24×50 Sightron with 100 moa of elev adjustment is a great scope for the street price.

I think ERT are first focal, LRT are in the 2nd plane. Both Mark 4
