Leupold BR24 Specs

I asked a High Master prone shooter what scope I should buy for prone shooting. His answer surprised me, a Leupold BR24.

I know nothing about this scope. Does it have clicks? If so what is their value? Do there scopes typically track true? What is the total elevation and windage adjustment? What finish and reticule were offered? Do they have a trouble free history?

Thanks for the help.

Mike

To answer your question there are many better scopes with a lot less problems than leupold. So check around before buying.

No scope is trouble free.

You should determine what power that you want for the distance you intend to shoot, check on the warranty and go to several web sites dedicated to bench rest/target shooting and see what everyone is using.

Fixed or variable may make a difference in what is available.

There's a lot to choose from, even in the classifieds sections.

Mike, I have a BR36, It's a real nice scope, has 1/4 clicks, mine has a premier 1/4 moa dot/fine crosshair reticle, it seems to track fine, don't really like it better than my T24's though, what I like the most about it is the weight, less than a pound.

Have 3 Weaver T-24, trouble-free and very good optics, repeatability, positive clicks, etc. Like the screw-on lens caps, included sunshade, and spare set of knobs. Also have an older Leupold BR-24x, pre-2004. Optics may be slightly above the Weavers. I would probably favor the Leupold, if only for their lifetime warrenty, not limited to the original purchaser. I understand there have been warrenty/repair problems with some Weavers, and they are, again) under new ownership.

Thanks for the replies guys. I really wasn't looking for opinions on the scope, I know Leupold's reputation. I needed info on the scope. For example, I need 1/8 min clicks since it would be used for smallbore. I won't use silver and I hate gloss, did they make a matte finish? etc.

All for not as I found a good used T-24 and picked that up.
