Let the games begin!

Got my first two for the season yesterday afternoon. 145 and 168 yards from the standing position off the BogPod with my new 6X45AI and 87 grain V-Max. Both were small boars in a fresh cut field. I'm still waiting for many of my fields to be cut.View attachment 982193View attachment 982194

Good shooting!! But are you sure that bottom one is a male?? Looks like she/it smeared its lipstick just a bit.;):p WD

image.jpeg Farmer cut another field today and I dodged the tetter and bailer! Got this Sow from 399 yards with my .22-.284 and 80 grian A-Max(3750 fps) from a bench. She was good sized but I didn't weigh her, 8 1/2 lbs.? Looked like she was done nursing so the seeds are planted! Makes #3!

Did you know that 8 of those little critters will eat as much as one cow? Got that from a rancher who used to nearly beg us to come clean out his fields. As the sun was setting in the summer evening, the alfalfa would start moving and it was chucks moving in for their evening meal. Lots of crop damage if you do not keep the population in check.

Wish I was in that part of the country again...... :(

Nice shooting. Hope you enjoy it as much as I used to.

Steve :)

An adult Chuck can cost the farmer 2 tons of hay annually. They can also eat 1 acre of soybeans! All my farmers are aware of this and love to see me show up, hell one even tried to pay me! It's a win/win and I also get invited to hunt their properties for Whitetail/Waterfowl/Predators. Saturday mornings they get together at a local restaurant for breakfast and spread my name and number.

Good times!
Haven't been seeing crap in my AO. Farmer is cutting this week, so that'll help...

Happy to see the lil' 6x45AI is up & runnin!!! Got a good stash of 87s ready to go, too :)

Keep the pics coming!

Way to go Majestic! I got on some in Centre County, PA near state college this week and we had a blast. Took two new long range hunters out with my 6 BR and 6 AI. they are hooked - A LOT OF MISSES AT 400+ but what are you gonna do :-D

Keep it up!!

Your numbers on crop damage are pretty close. To put a dollar figure on those, it is about $500 worth of alfalfa or clover hay, and $450 on soybeans cost to the farmer to feed the little rascals. And there is always the chance of broken farm equipment when hitting a hole just right (or wrong). If you have farmers spreading your name as a good respectable hunter, VERY GOOD on you!! And, they spread the bad names even faster!!! So it pays to respect their land. ;):D WD

#6 this afternoon from 100 yards. He, it's a Boar, was out feeding and made a beeline for his hole. I thought he saw me but when he he came back up he was looking the other way. The .22-.284 made short work of him, over-gunned perhaps but a little far for my S&W 617 revolver me thinks. image.jpeg

Just got a call from one of the farmers that owns a farm I hunt. Seems his Uncle down the road a couple of miles has an infestation and would like me to help him out. ☺️ I will check it out tomorrow and may find it hard to sleep tonight. Already checked out the area on Google Earth! It could be a real slugfest as nobody has hunted it for who knows how long.

Ahem...the grass is still too hi up here......

Sorry Parker 10 more today. The Pups are out! Longest was only 156 yards and all shots were from the standing position with the BogPod. Firearm of choice was the .17 Fireball and nothing moved after being hit with the 25 grain V-Max. They sure are dumb when you get in area that hasn't been hunted recently.image.jpgimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg
