Leopoldo Mark 5HD’s and PRS

I was poking around the PRS rankings site and it sure looked like almost half the top shooters are / were using these are at least said they were their favorite rig scopes.

But I haven‘t seen anywhere near that many at a PRS shoot…. Which gives me pause.

I need to get to see some side by sides of Vortex, ATACR, Nightforce with these Mark 5 HD’s…

Anyone had the chance to do that ?

I wasn't impressed with the toilet paper tube/smaller FOV on the Mark 5-25. ATACR was great, other than I don't like a ocular moving magnification dial. Vortex Razer HD gen II is great, Burri XTR III or new XTR Pro big FOV and great glass, turrets.

Right now I’m running a Razor HD Gen II, I do like it a great deal, but I’m building a couple of new rifles so I need other optics for those. I have decided on the ATACR for one of them, but am pondering on the other.

Leupold was a title sponsor last year and many of the top pros were sponsored by them. Good scopes but nothing particularly special about them vs. the competition.

The one thing that stands out is the clarity/brightness of the image on the Mark 5HD. It's better than my Nightforce Competition and Benchrest. I haven't had any problems with them, but I'm not hard on my equipment either.

I jumped on the Leupold bandwagon and tried the VX-HD6. I found the erector to be faulty. The seconf trip out I dialed 20 moa of elevation and also got 8 moa of windage. YIKES!! I sent it (brand new) back to be repaired. If was good once I got it back but I lost my trust in it so I sold it and went back to me Nightforce and Kahles. That can happen with any brand I suppose but trust is a BIG thing, at least with me.
