Lemi-shine and dawn

What ratio of lemon-shine/ dawn to water do you use for cleaning brass?
I use the recommendation of STM

1 gallon water, 5 pounds of SS pins, 2-4 pounds of brass, 1-2 tablespoons of Dawn (if there are no suds when you open, use more soap) and 1/4 teaspoon Lemishine. More Lemishine isn't better. On the soap, since it is difficult to clean off the measuring spoon, I just let it gravity flow out of the jug for 8 seconds.

What about using in ultrasonic cleaner?

I use the small dual drum tumbler from Harbor Freight and add about a four second "drizzle" of Dawn , and a quick shot of Lemmi-shine . I use the "Lemmi" in the blue bottle . Have a very nice commercial grade Ultra-sound but I don't use it anymore . System worked okay , but to much "babysitting it , time-wise .

With Lemishine, a little goes a long way, and "more" is not better. As noted, 1/4 teaspoon is all you need for a load of brass; just a pinch, really. If you add too much, funny things can happen such as the brass turning pink, especially where the necks have been annealed.

I once put too much lemishine in and when I opened up the tub, some hot, red smoke came out and I could feel the burn.

I don't use lemishine anymore

Many have reported using a 9mm casing for measuring, which is real close, I might add a bit more.
Depends on the size of your tumbler and the hardness of your water. Allot of variables involved, trial and error. Perfection is achievable.
I used a 10mm case. Just throw it in and let it go with it

Good approach. When in doubt, go heavier on Dawn and lighter on lemi-shine.

ive had great luck with mother’s car wash soap too. More expensive but keeps them shiny longer and leaves a little wax residue that makes for easier sizing

I use distilled water. Don’t have to worry about the hardness.

Personally, I use 1 to 2 TBSP of car wash/wax with about 1/8 to 1/4 tsp of LemiShine powder.

The drum on my tumbler is smaller than most though, I think.

The type of water that you have will dictate the amount of LemiShine needed. I use a 38 Super caseful and I use two cap fulls of the ArmorAll wash-in-wax.
