Leica Rangefinder

A word of CAUTION.
I have a Leica LFR 1200 scan rangefinder I bought used for $400.00 this year, its 2 1/2 years old. Had troubles, called Leica they said it was out of adjustment, and was out of warranty,2 years)they said they DO NOT FIX OR Repair their rangefinders just replace them at a cost of $350.00. So this means to have a working rangefinder its going to cost me $750.00.
So beware of buying a used LEICA it could cost you like its going to cost me...................

Wow, sorry to hear that Scott. I really enjoy mine, hope nothin' ever happens to it though. How can a range finder be "out of adjustment" just curious. I don't understand why they don't repair rangfinders. That's alot of money. Your doing the right thing, I would be screaming bloody murder.

I am not sure what out of adjustment means, all I know is that if You have any Leica Rangefinder and have trouble, you are going to pay a $350.00 min to get it fixed, wish Leupold had a rangefinder that would range 900 yards, they have the best service in the industry, bar none

All I know about Leupold rangefinders is they blow chunks. I had a RX-IV total peice of garbage. It was slow, it struggled to range over 400 yards most of the time. Whine, whine, whine. I would never recommend one, Period.

I really like the Leica, but with service like that I probably won't buy another one until I hear different. This is the first negative I have heard about Leica regarding service.

If you buy a Leica Product and they are not an authorized dealer the will do NOTHING AT ALL !!!!!!!! ...................

I understand your frustration Sir, and I'm not arguing at all with you. I know Leupold has good customer service, but when I tried to critique their rangefinder, the RX-IV) it seemed they didn't want to hear it, sending me dead links to emails and such. No, I didn't send it back to Leupold because I was hearing the same reports from others with the same rangefinder. So I just sold it.

I picked up a Leupold RB800 range finding binocular from Cabela’s Bargin Cave in April. After a few months the thing started eating batteries like crazy, even when turned off. Called up Leupold a few weeks ago to see if I could send it back for repair and a new battery cap, since I lost mine trying to save the batteries. They didn’t even ask how old it was. Just send it back. 2 days ago I received a brand new sealed in the box RB800C. Typical outstanding Leupold service.
