Lee turret press replacement?

Hey guys.
Going to have to do some work to it but have an old Lee turret press. I want to get replacement turrets so I can set up different loads. I just don't know which turret to order? I think the original was a three hole but there are different ones. Also if they are unercersal can I use a 4 hole instead? Thanks all

Not all of the three hole presses will accept the newer four hole plates. I have one that won't. Not sure how this is determined. Try calling Lee for guidance.

Edit: Just checked Lee's site. Four hole plates will not fit the discontinued three hole presses.

Thx. I looked at replacement three hole. But there are different ones? Mine is pretty old and when I looked for them they had three hole with different numbers. The lee site is down so I can't look it up. Maybe I should just get another press. Was trying to save a buck but the newer kits are tempting, less hassle. IDK

Mate - get a Dillon. Lifetime investment. Just start with a 550 and add all the good bits as you go, Your dies and, I think the powder measure will work OK. You can even add primer manually, before you get the primer feed.

If you just load pistols I am very happy with the Dillon Square Deal. They are auto index and the 550 is not. I use a Rockchucker single stage for rifle. You won't be sorry that you invested in Dillon. Gary

Have you checked Midway, Brownells, Opticsplanet, or Amazon for the 3 hole turrets?
Heck, 2 of my local gunshops have turrets in stock. 3 and 4 hole.

If you are loading for handguns, take a look at the Lee LoadMaster. It's a progressive at a lot less money than a Dillon and I have been very happy with mine for quite a few years now. You only need to have the appropriate shell plate (and remember that some of those cartridges share plates, like .44 and .45 Colt) and separate tool heads for your dies. I can swap for different cartridges in under 5 minutes. It also gives you the advantage of one additional hole (5 total) to allow you to crimp after seating.

If you are loading bottleneck cartridges, I still like single-stage presses for their strength and stability. I use a Lee cast Classic and have no complaints.

If you are loading both types of cartridges on a single press, a turret style can still do good work for you and can turn out good ammo.

Holy cow!! Dillon is nice stuff but trying to keep cost down lol. I know where to get turrets but don't know which one to get. There are a few types. But honestly I am just going to get a new press. I certainly don't mind a single stage and am looking at a few. Since I am missing a few things I would like to get a kit. Looking at Lee because of cost but maybe I can find a second hand. Got time to research since I have to wait for payday anyways. Tax return will be nice as well :D
