Lee die scratching brass

I got a new set of Lee .38/.357 carbide dies. I cleaned the sizer and ran 10 cases through it. I get 2 long scratches, not deep, but they're there. My brass is SS pin cleaned so no thumbler grit.

I have Lee dies in 9mm and .45 acp and the brass goes in nice and smooth, no scratches. These new dies don't feel the same as I size the .38 cases. I got an email into Lee. I can't see anything on the sizer but can the carbide insert be polished?

It possible for carbon or grit to become embedded in the carbide ring of the die. I would try polishing the die with a snug fitting shotgun cleaning mop and some J&B bore paste, automotive rubbing compound, Flitz, etc.

It would not hurt to spray the cases and die with Hornady One-Shot to ease the sizing effort and break in the die.

Like stated above . Polish it JB and polishing compound. Shotgun brush is a good idea. Tommy Mc
