Lead slugging a new barrel

Anyone here do this.
I learned a lot at Gordys class about lead slugging a barrel. New barrels that look great with a bore scope but lead slug tells a different story.

Thats funnny.
Barrels has been sent back to MFR due to the barrel having tight point and wont let the slug go down.Or barrels that are tight and get loose towards the crown end of the barrel. This is barrel that is new from the MFG and never been touched. They just swap it out. Its good to check. Pistol comp guys has sent hold pistol back because of the same thing. Barrel stamping from MFR is one of the bad spots found in barrels.

Instead of using a lead slug, a friend routinely uses cast laps, and he has found problems with top brand barrels that way, returned them and they were replaced. He is pretty quick at this and it can save him a lot of time, either on a new barrel, or to diagnose a customer's barrel so that he can make a recommendation for work to be done.
