LC 223 brass trim length ?

I trim to 1.745

By the time it needs trimming again I have either lost it or the primer pocket is toast.

I trim to 1.750" if I can, I had a bunch of Federal brass that all had to be trimmed to 1.740" to make them uniform. A few of them barely made that. I had a few older pieces of fired military 5.56 brass that went 1.785" and didn't show any signs of creating a problem in the gun they were fired in.

Lots of Federal factory ammo runs about 1.735-745. Really short stuff.

1.745 cleans most all of my brass up.

SAAMI calls for a minimum chamber to have the neck portion of the chamber at 1.772 from the theoretical breech face. The cartridge case has a corresponding maximum case length of 1.760 with a one way tolerance of -.03. So, I usually set my trim machine to give me cases 1.745 to 1.752 long. If I get the case in that dimension I know it will work, give good accuracy and I won’t have to trim it until at least two firings from an AR.

Well stated my friend.
Your specs are dead on as for SAMMI. As I posted in a previous reply , I trim to 1.750.
But like you, by checking with SAMMI, one will find that 1.730 is allowable and MAY let one use a case that might have been thrown away. As always, use caution and inspect casings.
God speed.
