Lawton Rifle does not feed

We learned that after waiting two years to get our rifles, Lawton Machine had a run of bad welding of the bolt handles.My friends bolt handle came off while he chambered his first round. We had a competent gunsmith replace our bolt handles with a weld covering a greater surface area. He also replaced the wacked out Lawton bolt handle with a straight SSG style handle for me that should have been on my tactical rifle in the first place.
I complained to Lawton Machine about the bolt and sent it back and they bent it in another direction and down, that it was impractical to use with the palm of my hand. The bedding had to be replaced too. Lawton Machine did not use a release and it had ripples and less than 50% contact.I complained and have had better customer service by a 16 year old at McDonalds than from Lawton Machine.
Lawton's shop manager wrote me a hand written letter apologizing for the problems. When I finally went to zero my gun before my hunting trip, I discovered that the ammo would not feed from the AI magazine, out of the badger bottom metal into the chamber.They never ramped the bottom metal and the receiver.
If you want your next gun project built right the first time do not use Lawton Machine

i have seen several treads on this forum about unhappy customers of Lawton. i guess when ernie (i think that was his name) passed away, things REALLY went down hill. their reputation went with it. im glad i found this site before i placed an order for a receiver. i was going to get one of their's until i read some posts about them. it turned me away from them--so i bought a stiller instead and am thrilled with their product!

This is very unusual for Lawton to react this way. I have always found them to be customer attentive and their products topnotch.

Sorry to hear your bad luck. I have had several Lawton actions in the past and have 2 presently. Maureen who is in the office has always been more than helpful and their products have always been top notch. By the way, his name was Barney, and Bill, his son is playing catch up, so give them a break.

Sorry for your issues but i have many of there actions as well as complete rifles and even a rebarrel job..All of them shoot veryvery very well and there barrels dont copper up....I will buy more from them ....We hear the bad but believe me there are alot of good items from Lawton. Since Barney passed away they have been in turmol and are working there way out. Barney kept all information in his head so there was alot of items and builds that knowone had any idea where he was at when he passed....They are trying really hard to be a custom company...there actions check out to be really square and true.
