Lawton Actions

Oh, that's not fair Dan. There is nothing wrong with Lawton actions. As a matter of fact, one of the guys on the team that's in the lead right now at the Berger SW Nationals- Ben Milam- is running a Lawton 7500 action. I have several of them. They work great.
Now, they are pretty hard to find spare parts for, but you can always have parts made for them.

I may be able to help with spare parts, pm me. They are a good action. There has been some records shot with them. I do know once Barney got sick the quality went down. The whole thing is a shame really. The place is just sitting there ready to start building actions again. I work across the street from them. I keep hoping one day it will get going again. I'd gladly pick up a few days a week over there.

They were an impressive piece of machinery when Barney was around. His son took over, went to hell in a hand basket. Depends on when it was made. Had an 8500 that was great, BUT, it was made when they were good. Chances are, you may have a bad one. All is not lost. It can be resserected (sp) like any old remington can.

Didn't some guy that used to work at Lawton take the design and start a company called Barker Machine, or something similar?

I personally owned 3 when Barney was living. They were
used on fantastic shooting rifles, w/no other work to the
actions performed. LDS
