Lathe quality question

There has been some chatter on lathe quality on the less expensive Grizzly lathes.I would think a victor lathe would be a step up. Any impute on Victor lathes would be appreciated.

Thank You

All the upper end Chicom lathes are made in the same Taiwan factory, Jet, Prince, Grizzly, Victor and the list goes on. The cheap stuff comes from main land china.

Thank You for the info. So what manufacturer would be considered a real high tolerance well built lathe that you can get parts for after you have had it for a considerable time?At a reasonable price.

It would be hard to beat a Grizzly for a gunsmith lathe, especially the price. It is made for gunsmithing. All of the Victors that I have seen are too long in the headstock for chambering short barrels. Just depends on what you are going to do with it.

Thank you for the information. I will be going past the Grizzly Pennsylvania plant in early March and will let the people on this forum know what I found out on their product.
