Why are 1/2 the barrel threads missing? Has this been mounted into a remington action?

There is nothing missing this is a complete barrel just as chambered by Remington and threaded onto a Remington XP-100 single shot pistol. It is part of Remingtons "3 rings of protection", it is just the way they do it.

It would completely swap out with a 7BR on the same action ready to shoot, would fit on any xp-100 action but some bolts would need to be adapted to this case head.

Not sure here but it is my understanding this would also fit the 600 Remington action and operate with a .470 +/- bolt face.

Why are 1/2 the barrel threads missing? Has this been mounted into a remington action?

It's clearance for the front receiver screw. I have two custom barrels that have complete threads with a flat milled/cut on the bottom to allow for the clearance.
