Large rifle to small rifle primer bushing?

I started reloading for a 6.5 grendel recently and some of the cheap brass out there for it has a large rifle primer. It got me thinking, could someone manufacture a small brass or steel bushing that would fit into a large rifle primer pocket and allow the use of small primers? Seems like it might gain favor with palma and FT/R, F-open shooter who wanted the advantages of the small primer. Anyone have any education on this as to whether it would work or not?

I know they have been made it the past. Freedom Arms used to sell (about 25 years ago) them for their 454 Casull. You would be better off buying better brass IMO

IMHO, it might make sense if small primer brass were't available. The AA/Lapua Grendel brass is of top quality. It has small primer pockets and small flash holes...and is available.

I think it was in Precision Shooting magazine several years back there was an article about using spent LR cups to bush primer pockets to accept SR primers.... Conclusion was that the effort didn't deliver up the expected benefits in the end.

Remington used to make SR-primered 308WIN brass, mostly intended for use as parent stock in wildcatting smaller cases & it's still out there if you look around for it. Since Lapua came thru with fine quality 308WIN cases tagged as "Palma" with a small primer pocket that niche has been filled. I've been using it since it appeared; it's wonderful stuff as one would expect from Lapua.

I've even managed to make 98 finished 6XC cases out of a box of 100 of 'em after losing a couple to working out the proper steps & dies needed. Worth the effort, they're as accurate as the Norma factory product (when available) and case heads seem to hold up better over repeated firings.

The small flash hole is most of the value of using small rifle primers. You can go to Russian primers and at least get a smaller overall flash (as evidenced in German Salazar's primer tests).
