Lapua vs RWS brass?

Lapua vs RWS brass

I know from reading that Lapua brass seems to be used by everyone it seems in competition. Especially for the BR series of cartridges.

However I was wondering if there are any competition shooters that use RWS brass who are very successful?
I'm not sure if they even make 6mm BR brass, but they do make some calibers that do interest me.

It's quite obvious, you have never used RWS brass :

No such thing as cheap RWS brass, but then considering how long it lasts over Norma Lapua remington winchester etc.... It's considerably a lot cheaper. This stuff just don't wear out.

It certainly is some very stout brass! I have a necked down 404 Jeffery to 30 caliber wildcat using RWS brass, and this brass is not even breaking a sweat.

I'm with Outdoorsman. Unless Shiraz's Norma 6 Dasher cases are better.

Isn't it about time to crawl out of your caves ;D RWS produces a select line of cases. Both RWS and Norma are owned by the same company, but you were aware of that also : eh ???

A lot of competitors do use it and have sung it's praise, they don't make a lot of the same chamberings as Lapua, ie 300WM, 375H&H, 8x68mm

Not trying to start an argument but , Ruag does own both Norma and RWS. Ruag also makes the brass for the 6x47 swiss match that has been sung about like it was Heaven on earth. Because companies own different branches does not mean they are all equal. ATK owns CCI and Federal are they the same, Do CCI Blaser ammo and Federal Gold Match ammo become equals because they are owned by the same company????
All thqt being said , do wish to find some .300 win mag RWS brass, I know of several people who built guns just because they got the chance to get some...

You're correct. They aren't the same. RWS has always been the better brass

Ok! Gotta ask. If your comment is in fact true, why isn't RWS being used (over Lapua) by ALL the major competitors and accuracy freaks worldwide who look for every edge they can get? Just asking.

Actually, it is, and has been for many years. They don't produce the more popular cases used by many. 220 Russian, 6BR, etc, etc. Another reason is the cost. However, as is usually the case, you get what you pay for. It has been/is, used by more military special ops and law enforcement agencies than any other brand due to the consistency and toughness. Many of the big boomer wildcats are based on RWS brass. It never really caught on in the US, primarily due to cost and availability.

If I can get the calibre I want in RWS, I am more than happy to pay twice what the other brass costs for it. Those I know who use it swear by it. If they would make 6BR, 284 and 300WSM brass, I would be one happy camper (not that I can fault Lapua 6BR brass).

There was a guy on Sniper's Hide a few years back who somehow got his hands on a couple of thousand RWS .300 Win. cases he sold off (to pay for the ones he kept). Didn't seem to have any problems selling it quickly, I was considering getting some for my (still) hypothetical belted magnum caliber.

Apparently, RWS brass is hard to come by here in the US due to a combination of the fact that (1) RWS cases are available mostly in weird Euro-centric calibers, other than the biggies like .308, etc., (2) they don't have a major importer here in the US, other than Huntington's, and (3) they're generally not cheap (for example Huntington's is selling RWS .300 Win. brass for $2 a piece, though the guy on the 'Hide was selling it for less than that) --- that's about the same price as Lapua .338 Lap. Mag. brass.

From what I read, everyone who's actually used RWS brass can't say enough good things about it.

HDS actually is a major importer. You can also, at times, find RWS brass at Midsouth and Natchez. Due to the lack of demand in the US, you won't find too many dealers stocking it. The person you referenced happened to have gotten his hands on a drum full of the 300 Win mag brass. As for cost, you usually get what you pay for. When talking about the best brass cases made, the word cheap doesn't belong in the same sentence

A friend forms RWS brass for his 300-BooBoo and has been shooting the same cases over and over for years.
I regard RWS brass as the finest brass made in the world. Just to bad they don't make more in other calibers.
