Lapua vs Norma for 22PPC

I have heard that Norma has made their BR brass harder lately to compete with Lapua. Is there any proof to this, or am I better off getting Lapua? Any one with real experience on longevity of the two?
I am looking to get or build a 22PPC or 22BR for varmint shooting.

Thanks
Mike

Both are good. I have 3-6mm PPC, a 22-.100 PPC short, and a 20 PPC. I started out using all Lap brass for these guns but got curious about norma. 2 of the 6mm are benchrest rifles with reamers that match the die and brass lasts forever with both brands. I have only used Lapua with the 22-100 and I go through a set of 50 cases about 6 times then toss them loading quite stout pressure. With the 20 PPC I have recently switched to Norma and am happy so far. I use 22 PPC necked down and load it to the governor and its doing good.

Been using lapua for a HV benchers gun in 22 BR and it lasts forever but I have a new Cooper coming soon in 22BR and I am prepping Norma for it so we shall see....

The 22 Br will give you a bit more than the 22PPC, and in my opinion (FWIW) if I did the BR I would go Lapua, and in the PPC I would set it up for PPC USA and just buy either Norma or Lapua, whichever I could get and stick with it. I shoot 22PPC USAin a no turn early PPC chamber cut to origianl PPC spec by Sinclair. No issues whatsoever. It will get to 500 yards with a 50 grain bullet, but that is pushing it. Got the video to prove it, but it is running out of steam there.

I think if I were going to build it for vaminiting, I would go BR. I just lucked into an old Sinclair BR gun and use it for varmints. It will last forever at this pace.

Thanks for all the great info, ( as usual on this site). I haven't decided on exactly I want but will keep an open mind.

My experience with them is Lapua has a thicker neck. My Norma brass after reducing to .20 cal has a .012" thick wall. Lapua turned to .013".

Thanks for all the great info. I just picked up a Sako 22ppc single shot heavy barrel rifle manufactured in the 80's. I have some Lapua 220 russian brass on order, and I am in the market for some dies.
I will post some pics soon.

Nice rifle. Should be fun. I like my 22PPC for chucks.
