Lapua Scenar 155's for 308?

Anyone here use these bullets? How do they compare to the Berger 155's? What powder are you using with them? I was thinking about trying them with N140 or N150? Are these powders fairly temp stable?

Thanks

I shoot the 155 scenars in my factory long throated Remington sps-v. I tried 155 berger, 155.5 berger and
155 sierra's with no success in my rifle. my load is 2.870 oal with lapua brass and varget. can you give more details about your setup?

It is an old Musgrave with a 28" 1 in 13 barrel I believe. It was chambered to be used back in the day for Biseley competition.

if it has a bisely chamber Id try sierra's or berger's first. sierra's are the cheapes and lapua scenars are the highest. I don't think any one 155g bullet will be a whole bunch better than the other. there is a big article written by brian litz from berger bullet's explaining sierra/lapua/berger 155g bullet's in comparison to one another. he says they are all so close and to shoot which one your gun likes.

I use them exclusively in my 308. They work very well and seem to be less picky with respect to distance from the lands than some of the others I've tried.

Varget and 8208 work great with lapua brass and br2 primers.

I have had excellent accuracy with the .308 & the 155 Scenar's. I have a 10 twist bbl. & got a 20 shot average fps of 2889. The load is safe with absolutely no pressure signs in my rifle but please start low & work up to 46.4 grs. Varget with Wolf Large Rifle primers. This load shoots good enough for me that I have never experimented with other primers. I shoot this in a Tubb gun which has produced many 5 - 7 inch 5 shot groups @ 1000 yards. I set the overall length as long as I can & still have them work in the magazine. This load has also shot very well in several other .308's.

Which Berger 155 you want to compare 'em too? They make quite a few... the Scenars are on the longer end & may need faster-than-13-twist to work well. I've had good results in a NM M1 chambered for 308 (no idea about by whom though; used a 'pull-thru" finish reamer from the look of fired brass) that shoots great out to 1,000 yards.

They're higher-priced than other good candidates but these days if you FIND them, BUY them 'cause you might not find what you really want anytime soon without a handy time machine....

I get made fun of, but i shoot them almost exclusively from my TRG now. Point being, I don't have a place to shoot past 200 yards without driving 2.5 hours, so it makes no sense to go with a heavy bullet. I have been using 4895 around 41.2 grains and getting close to 2620 fps.

Savage 10, 26" criterion prefit, nitrided

47gr Varget, Lapua brass, Tula primer, ~2.875", 2970fps

45.5gr, otherwise as above, 2875fps

Both shoot below 1/2moa consistently.

one thing to note, when comparing the scenars to berger 155.5 and sierra palma 155(#2156). the scenars have a much longer baring surface which helps them take a lot of jump. as in the case of my factory throated Remington.
