I know this site is putting together a 6.5x47L cartridge guide and I have contributed to it but I would like to hear from anyone using the 139gr Scenars.
It seems that the Berger 130gr VLDs have just about sewn up long range target shooting with a variety of powders being used. They are a one bullet solution from 300-1000yds but what about the higher BC and cheaper Scenar 139gn bullets.
Its the Scenars with BC = 0.615 against the Berger VLDs with BC = 0.552. If I could get the Scenars to travel at around 2925fps as the Bergers are now doing in my rifle in theory I would have a flatter shooting and more wind resistant projectile.
My problem is in Australia at the moment, till the end of the year) RL17 is not available. I have access to most other powders RL15, Varget and H4350, etc, but they appear to struggle above 2850fps. Can RL17 achieve this velocity?
So its over to anyone that has or is shooting the Scenars at 2900fps or above to please pass on the info as to how you did it and what were your accuracy results.
