Lapua Factory 6BR ammo - pierced primers

I have 2 boxes of factory 105 grn. and when shot in my Savage 6mmBR I quit after 5 rounds as I noticed flattened and pierced primers. Sent the barreled action, fired cases and some unfired rounds to a gunsmith to check out . Supposedly it had the wrong firing pin spring ,too lite , which caused the primer to back out and "pierce itself " against the firing pin . The weather turned cold and I did not have a chance to shoot the rifle since and I shoot reloads anyway. I don't want to burn up a firing pin tip using them and have other 6BR's so - contact a Lapua rep. (and how ?) or try them in other 6BR's ? I suppose it's possible that the ammo is too hot but Lapua is noted for quality . Thoughts ?

Curiosity alone would have me comparing head to shoulder datum dimensions of unfired vs. fired cases.
What is the protrusion length of your firing pin in the fired position in the blot and also how many Thousands past SAAMI min bolt face is your shoulder angle headspace length ? I always use the Tubb spring on the bolts we make and there semi light . Even if he gets it to fire please let me know these two answers if you would please, Thanks Dave Kiff

I wouldn't argue with your Gunsmith about the firing pin spring. However, it wouldn't be the 1st time primers were pierced by a Savage firing pin that was too "pointy". A simple rounding of the pointy end of the pin solves the problem. You may not have experienced the problem with reloads that weren't as hot as the factory loads. ...... Just a guess based on experience ;) ............... By all means, test the ammo in another 6BR & measure shoulder to base on cases from both guns.

I was cratering and piercing primers with mild loads in my 6mm BR in my Winchester post '68 Model 70. I heard about GreTan Rifles and send him my bolt. Super quick turn around (like a week) and my problem was solved. Check out Greg's video on his website.
