Lapua BR brass...

Judd said:
For what Lapua brass costs and listening to everything about them I was expecting more. Has anyone else had this issue and do you just toss'em? As cheap as my creedmoor brass is I have never had a shell I couldn't wiggle or twist in.

Judd, you are not alone. I've had the same problem. I use an RCBS(?) shell head holder. After I found out they also wouldn't chamber right due the the thick rim....... I just pitched the bad ones. It was a rough couple boxes to sort, had to check them for shell head holder, check them for weight, then run each of them through the action to make sure they chambered properly. Out of 2 boxes I pitched 14.

When you have this kind of issue, just contact the factory or their Rep. Airing it out on the net usually ends up in more grief than the brass is worth. JMHO. WD

Had the same problem with a Redding shell holder. I called them and they sent another right out. Problem solved.

As for Lapua brass, it's the most consistent I have used. I gave away all my other brass (Win, Norma, Lake City). Life is better now.

Hey don't fret I had the same issue with the hornady #1 shellholder specifically for the cam trimmer.....itz the shellholder not the brass....I too have lapua brass, every piece I ran thru a lee #2 shellholder no prob 200 cases...hornady #1 was an epic fail..75% failure rate...callled hornady, sent them 2 pieces that wouldn't work and defective shellholder, a week later my new up to spec #1 replacement shellholder arrived. ;D free of charge..cept shipping (1.50 usps 1st class). Call hornady...they're great folks and they'll make it right. Lapua brass is extremely consistant and resiliant, I've loaded various calibers (bum lazy buddies) using differant brass manufacturers and have yet to find any as consistant as Lapua...the key word here is consistant....I have never had any issues with Lapua brass not chambering other than having to bump the shoulder and resizing the body which is not very often.
On a side note.. I had two differ lots of hornady 105 amax and the polymer b-tips were .020 longer from one box to the other....
