Lapua 6BR Norma. Donde esta?

My gunsmith is threading, chambering, and crowning a 1:8 Lilja HBR contour barrel for me. It is a no neck turn reamer and I plan to shoot non sanctioned Hunter Bench Rest at my Gun Club, and Mid Range F-Open matches. This is a new cartridge for me, and I have been assembling the necessary reloading dies and other things, but so far I have been unable to find Lapua brass. Is this common or temporary? Should I get Norma brass and be done with it? I can probably wait until Spring as our range is very iffy thru the Winter, but would like to hit the ground running come March. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Like most folks, I only look for a component when I'm ready to buy. At the moment I've got enough Lapua 6mm BR Norma to last me at least another year, so I didn't notice the shortage.

I don't know anything for sure, but I suspect (or hope) that it's just temporary. I buy it from time to time and have never had problems in the past, but a few checks at the likely spots shows that you're absolutely correct; i.e. right now it's hard and/or impossible to find.

I'd say cross your fingers, put in the usual "notify me when available" notices in at the usual places, and leave Santa some cookies and a big glass of nice whiskey on Christmas eve.

Esta aqui! With huge gun and ammo sales literally weeks away, have you considered buying Lapua factory ammo? It’s spendy but would provide you the advantage of getting your hands on some brass quickly (if its available) and can be used to establish a standard, if you will of what you can expect from your gun. It always shoots sub-half moa in mine. Of course hand loads perform better. There is a write up about Lapua factory ammo on the 6BR tab of this site. Good luck with that new build.

Gerald

Edit: I have only tried the 90 gr Scenars in the factory offering. Bullets.com has both the 90 & 105’s available.

Just be patient, and it will come back in-stock soon.

I broke down and ordered 100 from Cabela's. Thanks for the info. Hogpatrol. Pricy but coming. Hope the supply improves soon.
