Lapua 6.5 -144g any experience?

Have been shooting 142SMK's at 2950 FPS with good results for
last # of years but as new season approaches and new barrel on,
was thinking of trying out the Lapua's.Am intrigued by the 144.
Anyone out there have performance experiece with these at 1000k?
Will be placing order very soon and your input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gord

The Lapua 144 is not a OTM bullet, it is a FMJ BT, and not particularly condusive to 1000 yard accuracy.

I would choose the Lapua 139 Scenar over the 144 for this purpose.

I doesnt know how hight is the price of the 144 FMJ in the US but they are cheap in EC

I will go with Sierra 142 SMK, 144 Lapua is sweet in 6.5x55 swedish miltary gun for low velocity but not as accurate as the true match bullet, 139 Scenar or 142 SMK )

last point FMJ are close at the base so use them at hight pressure can generate accuracy problem

good shooting

The real BC of the 144's is like 550 maybe. Don't believe the bc hype...its wrong.

I would suggest buying the 139's when they come back up in 1000 lots. Shoot to virtually same POI as 142's and are more consistant in ogive measurements.

The Silver jackets have good moly coating too if your into shooting moly bullets. Nice wax coating. Doesn't leave your fingers looking like you ate a box of oreo's.

My favorites in 6.5 bullets are
1. 139 scenars and 140 Bergers tied.
2. 142 SMK
3. 140 A-max

A-max's didn't shoot well in 1-8 twist. Boyd loves them in his WSSM 6.5. Might be his 1-9 twist.

main problem is over stabilization AMAX are very accurate but doesn t like to be over stabilized, too high SF)

basic respice is to check, with software computation ) how you need of stability factor to shoot more sf is un usefull and make bullet blowup

most 1 in 8 are or was design for slow 6.5 in the aera of the low pressure load in 6.5x55 or other old military cartridge, 6.5 carcano, 6.5 Arizaka ..) 1 in 9 is enought fast for good accuracy in 260 REM and surely good enought for most modern 6.5, except small case as 6.5 BR and clone )

in overbore 6.5 as mag case in 6.5 a 1 in 9.5 or in 10 can surely do the job

after you just need to locate a abrrel able to make the pitch you need and the pitch they can do

cut riffling are a very sweet equipement to make easy pitch step by 1/4 and a 1 in 8.75 will be surely the respice

Morrisson in USA, AZ ) can do that easy because that a true barrel maker and when you order a Morrison barrel you are sure that Mister Morrison have put in hand on, I have NOT WRITE that biger company as Krieger make not good barrel but they are more bigger and get true custom is not so easy even if quality is high

note too that button rifling have generaly highter, slower pitch ) as cold marked so and by the way a 1 in 9 can be a 1 in 9.2 or closer and doesn t be fast enought but that doesn t create a law as 1 in 9 doesn t work

I have trust in G Schneider barrel

good shooting
