Lapua .243 Brass?

Ordered some Lapua .243 Brass a couple of months ago, I was told at the time it would be coming into the country in about a week to 10 days. It's still on back order and now, no one seems to know when it will hit this country. Has anyone heard what the hold up is, or what kind of a time frame I may be looking at. My new .243AI, is almost complete and I sure would like to have the Lapua brass as that was what made me decide on the 243AI rather than the 6MM AI.

I have the same problem .I have a new 243 Cooper and got some Lapua brass on back order but im ready to just give up and go with Winchester brass.

Mark, thanks for the heads up. I ordered the brass this morning. Can't wait until I get the AI and start working up the loads .

Chuck,
Glad to help; Let us know how the AI shoots, are you going with a fast twist or slow? Big bullets or varmint stuff, I really like my 9 twist .243 it shoots everything pretty good but especially the 95 Bergers with H-4350. I may get another straight .243 barrel from GA Precision [7 twist] I'd like to try the 115 Tubb for fun to see how it shoots. I also had good luck with Mag-pro and RL-22 and RL-19 with the lighter 80-87 gr pills but with the 9 twist had no real,1.5" groups) accuracy with 75s on down. My best primer was Fed gold metal match. I used alot of the Data 79 with excellent results which is 3% faster than AA-2700. Sorry to ramble but I really like the .243 and an AI is a .243 that doesn't stretch and mild loads are heavy loads in the .243.

Mark,
My .243AI will be a Heavy Fluted Hart 8 twist barrel and will be mated to an old Wichita 1375 Action and piller bedded into an old McMillen stock that was originally on my brother-in laws Heavy Varmint 6PPC, which he used to set a few IBS records with. Should make for a dandy P-Doggity rifle. I'll be starting out with 87Gr. V-Max's and 95 Berger VLD's. The powders that I currently have on hand are H-414, H-4350, N-160, RL-19&22 and 3Lbs. of the old Winchester Magnum Rifle powder. Will probably start with H-4350 or N-160 as that is what I have the most of but I will purchase whatever shoots the best. It's being bedded as we speak. Thanks again for the tip on the brass.

Got 300 pieces from Powder Valley .Its my first time buying Lapua and i have to say it looks a whole lot nicer then Winchester. Thanks again for the heads up.

Good prices at Powder Valley, good customer service and if they say it is in stock it is. I'm a loyal customer myself.
Chuck, did you get my attachment? Kind of a hodgpodge of various loads, hope you can make sense of it. With your 8 twist I'd try 107s and RL-19 and RL-22 they are great powders in the
std .243 with the heavy bullets. I also have had very good luck with Mag Pro and Data 79,AA2700) equiv. The 87 V-Max works very well in the std .243 in the 9 twist and shoots well in my 8 twist Dasher my 10 twist 6BR poops out at about 75gr Vmaxes and shoots the 87 well but is not a 400yd rockchuck gun with that bullet.
Fred, if you have not had the Lapua experience yet you are in for a treat. Better than 90% of their brass is perfect as is. In 6BR and Std..243 I just chamfer prime and load with good results.

Mark,
Sorry but no I didn't get the attachment. Only the heads up about the brass at Powder Valley, which I received today. My smith informed me that the gun would be ready to start breaking in by this weekend, the only thing left to be done will be the paint job. I will eventually try the 107's as that is the reason that I went with the eight twist so that I could shoot those long beauties. If it's not to much trouble, you could try resending me that data. It would be greatly appreciated as this is my first AI.
