Lapua 22BR brass

I'm planning on building a 22 BR and noticed that the Sinclair catalog lists 22BR brass as Norma not Remington. Is there a difference? I chose the 22 BR because Lapua brass was reputed to be the best. Do I need to pay attention to the difference between 22 BR Norma and 22BR Remington?

I couldn't find any 22BR brass on Sinclair's web sight or their catalog. The 22BR can be made easily by running the 6BR through a 22BR sizing die. There was 2 sizes of 6BR cases. The new name for the 6BR is 6BR Norma. The old name for the 6BR was 6BR Remington. Remington, Norma and Lapua make 6BR cases. So you don't have any trouble just your cases won't say 22BR on them. The Remington case .200 from the back of the case measures the Diam. of .462 - Norma .466 - Lapua .468 - at the shoulder/ case juction Remington .455 - Norma .457 - Lapua .458. So there can be some trouble if the wrong chamber reamer is used. With a 22BR Norma reamer Norma or Lapua will work fine. The Remington case will work also but there will be a little swelled look on the back of the case.
The 22BR is a neat rig.

Glann,

Thanks very much for the info. I should have said Sincalir listed 6BR Lapua brass not 22 BR. Obviously I need to speak with the gunsmith about the reamer he's planning on using - I'd rather not go the custom die route if i can help it. Where in the world did you find the detail specs on the different brass?

Thanks again,

Robin

I have a 22BR and a 6BR - so I bought 20 Remington - 20 Norma & 100 Lapua cases to find out what the sizes really were. There is so much information that may be wrong, this was the only I knew to be sure. From what I understand the orginal Remington had a longer neck. All I know the new Remington are the same length.

Hope this helps

Glenn
