So I got a couple barrels to set back
The one I am working on now is pretty worn so I am repurposing it as just a fireforming barrel
when I dialed it in has approx .0015" land height
I know new barrels have approx 3-4 though land height
----------------------------------------------------------------
My question is, does anybody know how much land height is actually necessary to stabilize a bullet?
Since this will be a fireforming barrel for something Im just playing with I really don't care if it shoots well or not
I notice moreso than any fire cracking, my barrels (Kriegers) are worn out when the land height decreases to a certain point
such as wont spin a cleaning rod anymore.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
is .001" enough?
is .002" enough?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
For this question of land height needed to still shoot
Velocities are 3300 fps and above with .224 cal bullets
just curious if anybody has ever experimented or measured this and still have a rifle shoot well
