lake city brass

No, it's not the same.
A google search will show you 100's of places to buy, prices can change in any given month.

Like necchi says, it is NOT the same brass. Personally, I've found that the Federal is thicker brass, but I like the Lake City brass better because it's seems to be more elastic and resiliant. Even so, the Lapua brass is the brass to use because of it's life and consistency. I use those others for foulers.

Like the last two guys said - it's not the same - IF you are comparing commercial Federal to LC.
There is a ton of NATO-spec and stamped 308Win Federal out there mixed in with the LC stuff when you buy one shot brass online - unless it's sorted. The NATO-spec Federal lasted as long for me as the LC did (500pcs) - one shot brass - 5 loadings by me - 3 loadings through bolt guns and 2 through my M1A - most pieces trimmed once. After the 2nd load through the M1A I started seeing signs of base separation and linear cracking in that batch, so that bunch is being retired after it's last firing. The brass was FL sized for the M1A and neck sized only for the bolt gun. Personally all I shoot out of my M1A is mil-spec brass, preferably LC, because it's hard on brass.
Try the mil-surp reloading market for one shot brass and try to get all LC. I haven't seen virgin LC 308Win in a very long time. If you buy one-shot unprocessed brass, you'll need a swager to process the primer pockets (it's crimped).
I'm with Shynloco when it comes to match grade brass - Lapua is great stuff - if you can afford it. I shoot it and it's spot-on all the time for weight and spec.
Winchester isn't bad for poking holes, but the gas guns will beat the heck out of it in short order - not bad for range work in bolt guns though.
Cheers,

I have seen either pulldown '68LC brass or pulldown '43SL brass at Bartlet's, polygunbag.com and Pat's.
Some occasional milspec '68LC cartridges at Packrats.
I purchased some pulldown '43SL from polygunbag (Bonaduce Inc.) and have 200pcs 3x through my Garand with no complaints - I am shooting M2 handloaded copies. I bought the original M2 tips there too.
