ladder value before breakin is complete

Is there any value to a ladder before breakin is complete? I have 55 rounds down the tube. I use wipeout and there has been no copper coloring after the first 10 rounds.
thanks Don

Done any chrono work?

I just shoot for fun on steel until the barrel speeds up then do my ladder, usually 100 rounds or a little more. Plus I like to get virgin brass formed to the chamber first.

I've had good luck with pre break in ladders however once your chamber rough is gone you should see a difference in CBTO (when finding the lands)

You will chase your tail. It will give you an idea of the node but it will move every time you shoot until it settles. So long as you know that and are not surprised go ahead. You can still work on seating depth too. Some barrels change more than others in the first 200.

I used to do it, sometimes even finalizing a load. After being bit by being on the upper end charge weights, today I just find something to bang steel with my magneto hanging off the end for each shot till I knows it has sped up. Then start.

If you are shooting with a chrono, you could still find an approximate speed for your node. Eventually you will need to gradually reduce your powder amounts to keep that same speed. Once the barrel normalizes your could fine tune the powder amount around the identified speed node.
