Labradar Vs Magnetospeed

Hi.
How do you run your Magnetospeed free floating? I'm interested because when attached to my barrel the MPI varies.

I have both, for my bench rest guns I don’t leave home without the lab radar. But i do a lot of varmint hunting, prairie dog’in with groups of friends and the Magnetospeed is always in the back seat of the truck ready to help someone get that long range dog.

Thank you. I've got a bolt action plus sound moderator so this wouldn't work, but it has got me thinking. I think I need a Picatinni adapter for my front sling swivel stud, then 20" of rod with a ball joint on the end. Hmmm. A lock down project?

If you own pistols then its Labradar. I have used it in indoor ranges with barriers between points and next to a wall and it worked just fine.

When shooting rifles I set it up and shoot. If I need it to clock fine, just press a button. If I dont need to clock fine also, multiple rifles are easy nothing to attach or remove.

Is it perfect? No! There are always improvements that can be implemented but for a first generation
product its very good.

I have mine for a couple of years and have measured many thousands of rounds and it has been
a solid performer.

Unfortunately now that I said this it will probably explode the next time I use it and I will have to come back and modify this post.

I am a long time magneto speed owner that recently purchased a LabRadar. First off, the magneto speed is a great tool and is very useful. Yes it does have the drawback of poi shift. This can be accounted for and should not deter someone from purchasing one if that is what you what want. I have only used my labradar four times. I didn’t even read the manual. I just brought it to the range, plugged in an external battery and fumbled around with the buttons. It took about two minutes and brief assistance from the shooter next to me to get it up in running. The interface is a little clunky, but it doesn’t take long to figure it out. The app works fine on my iPhone 11and solves some of the interface issues. Aiming the unit was easy in my opinion though the unit was triggered by the shooter next to me. I changed the sensitivity level and the false triggering stopped.
The magneto speed cost less initially, but you will likely want some type of mount that doesn’t affect the poi. The labradar needs a stand right out of the box. A external battery is a good idea to have and the trigger is useful in some situations but not absolutely necessary. Some people have had a hard time with aiming the labradar and the interface, I don’t believe this is a issue with the unit, more likely a learning curve issue for the user (sorry, I don’t mean to offend any one that has this problem).
Each unit has some drawbacks. Each problem has a solution as discussed on this forum. You could use either unit and be successful. Is one better than the other? I think that is a matter of each person’s individual needs and opinion.

Agreed. It will also add to the overall clunkiness and make it slower to move between guns which aren't setup identically.
