Labradar sights

Not that one, but something similar from MK machining. I didn't find it very useful. It's too short and I had better luck with a longer soda straw. Past history as the Labradar is long gone.

Right now, I am kind of avoiding the MK one because one guy on Amazon claimed (and I saw the results) that the male boss that the screw goes through broke off, right away, and I might have seen one where the "sighting tube" broke. In looking at the construction, that part is pretty thin and unprotected, so I could believe it. Some of the other, cheaper ones, the one referenced above, they are more beefy there. I don't mind paying more for good quality, as long as I get something for it. I already see a possible deficiency there. Another version has more beef around the aperture and has a built in post sight, about like an AR 15.

I never saw any need for an aiming device because orientation is not critical. Originally, I thought a piece of aluminum arrow would be great. Just pick a length that works and you're good to go. But I just peered down the V notch without issue.
 
I use a white tube. It came from your standard bic pen. I set the tube in the labradar sight notch and make sure my target is centered in my bic pen tube aperture. Works every time for 100 yards shooting.
I am probably going to start out like that. I am not overly sold on any of the aiming devices. Mostly I don't like the comments that they are big and may make it difficult to put in the case.

I have a sight similar to this on my unit. It does help by removing the guesswork of are you angling off to the left or right because your aren't looking dead center down the V-notch built into the unit. Its a cheap upgrade... don't over-think it. What is $10-$15 if it gives you peace of mind and eliminates 5-10 minutes of dickering around with aligning the Labradar every time you go to range. If you are worried about a cheap screw then invest $2 for a quality stainless steel screw you can pick up from your favorite Big Box hardware store.
 
I super glued a small piece of 1/8" brass tubing into the sighting groove. Works OK.

An acquaintance made up a clamp-on red dot sight that worked no better than the tube; I suspect he has too much time on his hands.

A friend did the red dot thing. He 3D printed a pic rail to screw to his Labradar and mounted a cheap red dot on it.. When I asked how he bore-sighted his Labradar, I got a blank look. Yeah.... Too much time on his hands!
 
I made a simple sight for my Labradar, and it works great.
It consists of two pieces of brass tubing, one about 3" long, and the other is 12" long.
The 3" piece is glued to the Labradar notch in the top center. I used silicone rubber as the glue as it can be removed. The other tube slides inside the short tube.

The 12" long brass tubes are a sliding fit inside one another. I used a 1/4 inch ID for the long tube, and the next size larger for the short tube.
I put a rubber ring on the eye end, so I would not poke myself in the eye. I also sprayed black paint inside the long tube to kill reflections when using it.

At 100 yards you can easily center up a 8 1/2 X 11 piece of paper to align the Labradar.

The long tube resides in the cloth Labradar bag when I pack up.

I "think" that's the one I bought - or one just like it. It helped a lot. Every time I tried to just lay something in the groove, like a straw or pen, the slightest breeze would blow it off. I don't know if I have ever cussed at a machine more than I did at the Labradar.
 
My shooting is predominately long range so I used a red dot on mine to aim at targets 2000 yards and farther. Never missed a shot in the 3 years I used it. Have since gone Garmin; still have not missed a shot.

I have that one you posted on mine. It works well for my use.
Thanks for your comment. I liked that one for the design and price, but I was a bit hesitant based on that it looks a bit higher than others and reports that it caused difficulty with getting it in the case. I ended up finding an MK Machining at a slightly better overall cost than I had first found, so I ordered one.

If you know a friend that has a 3d printer...there are a pile of print files out there for free usage. Just need to source a longer metric bolt that's easy to get to bolt on. I've made several...not sure i have anymore of my printed sights. Went to Garmin and it's rock solid.
 
I have a 3d printer. I do alot of 3d printing. The bic pen still was my choice for aiming.
