Just a question to make sure I get the right one the first time..
If I buy the case holder for new cases for 6ppc that I'm fire forming from 220 russian I am assuming I need to buy the 220 case holder.

I neck turn by eye, so I do not need to trim .220 Russian cases, but if you use the shoulder on the mandrel as a stop, you may need the .220 case holder to trim them uniform. Now that I think of it, I have never checked the new cases for uniformity of length.

I do have one of those coming but I figured it needed I could trim all brass to 1.490 or 1.495 from the start

If you want to trim before fireforming yes you need a 220r holder and youll most likely need a 220r FL sizing die to make sure they fit consistently. They all need ran thru a die from the box theyre not perfect at all. I just blow em out as a 220r in a ppc barrel before i do anything to get them the same length. Ive never trimmed one until theyre too long- youll wind up short if you do

Yeah it's a pita when cases won't fit in the case holder until sized.
The bigger ones fit both ...

Yeah you wind up trimming twice or having ever so slightly different case lengths &
All the other case mouth work for nothing.

That's the part of shooting i never look forward to. 200+ cases, bandaged fingers & the f'ups that cause me to dent a few never fails !

I've got prolly 5 or 6 firings on these 20 cases. They measure anywhere from 1.501 to the longest was like 1.510.

Once they hit 1.5 i trim to 1.490 and theyre too far gone before the next trim
